I've been a yo-yo dieter my whole life; I've gained and lost the same 20-25 lbs so many times I have lost count. Every time I would gain the weight, I would feel horrible about myself. I hated the way my clothes looked and felt; I hate the way I felt about myself, and to comfort myself, I would eat more. Weird, I know; I did more of what was making me feel so awful. I would always get to a point where I couldn't take it anymore. In my younger days, it would be the fad crash diet or (gasp!) diet pills. When I got a little older, I would count calories or cut carbs and exercise like a maniac. I would get the weight off, but then I would go back to my old ways: skipping breakfast, not eating enough throughout the day, gorging at dinner, and having too sugary cocktails on the weekends.
I just got so tired of this revolving door, and even at a lower weight, I wasn't really healthy. In January of 2014, my weight was back up, and I wasn't being very nice to myself; I was desperate to end this cycle. I was looking for healthy recipes on the Internet, and I came across this woman's blog. She has great clean recipes and interesting information on her site, and she offered something I had never heard of: a challenge group.
I knew I had to do something, so I contacted her and asked about her group. She told me it was an online accountability group, and that the requirements to join were that I made a commitment to do a Beachbody exercise program at home, drink Shakeology for 30 days, and check in daily with the group. She told me that she had a whole curriculum to help me learn how to eat clean and to build truly healthy habits.
I felt like I had tried everything else, and I had nothing to lose. I already owned Turbofire, so I bought Les Mills Pump and decided to do a hybrid of the two programs. I bought Shakeology, too, even though I was skeptical.
Sixty days later, my life was completely changed. I looked at food, nutrition, and exercise totally different. I found a way to be healthy; a way that was totally livable for me. Even after the challenge group ended, I kept losing fat and gaining strength and muscle.
And this is what I got:
Every day, I'm still getting stronger and fitter. I can do things today that I couldn't do last month (ahem... tricep pushups...) It just keeps getting better.
Now that I'm a coach, I'm the one helping people with their transformations! If you would like to be considered for my next group, fill out this application:
